HVS Technologies, Inc. was incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in November 1988 as a technology spin-off from the Center for the Engineering of Electronic and Acoustic Materials & Devices (CEEAMD) at the Pennsylvania State University . HVS has expertise in the areas of free space microwave measurement systems, high power microwave processing systems, electromagnetic shielding (materials and measurements), and barium strontium titanate voltage tunable ceramics. The design and development in which HVS is involved are on the cutting edge of science and engineering. Necessarily, HVS is a technology driven company, and HVS' management methods reflect this. Principally owned by Vasundara Varadan and Vijay Varadan, they provide technical expertise and direction to HVS. Employees of HVS are involved fully with the entire life-cycle of projects due to the diversity and breadth of its projects and services.

Expertise in the company spans theoretical electromagnetics and computations to the development of innovative measurement techniques and automated application systems and materials engineering. This involves everything from the design of materials with specific EM properties, to instruments for measuring the EM properties, to high power devices to exploit EM properties. While the products and services that HVS offers may seem multifaceted, the connecting thread is the interaction of electromagnetic energy and materials.
