The HVS Microwave NDE system is a
non-contact remote measurement system
capable of operating in high temperature
environments, which renders this system
an attractive alternative to ultrasonic
NDE and characterization. Ultrasonic
NDE is a contact method and is not
always suited for high temperature
measurements. Our system can be used
for in situ material characterization
of composite materials, anisotropic
materials, EMI/RFI shielding materials,
chiral materials, liquids, etc. at
both low and high temperatures.

Shown
is a tape casting machine to which
microwave NDE and real-time process
control can be applied for in-situ
monitoring of dielectric properties
of the slurry. It is also well suited
for process control by monitoring
parameters such as thickness, moisture
content, cure rate, slurry compositions,
etc. This system can also be used
for inspecting flaws, such as voids
and delaminations, in materials.

A
computer controls the precision microwave
system, consisting of spot-focusing
antenna, for calibration, measurement,
and data acquisition as well as analyzing
the data to compute the material characteristics
and process control parameters.
HVS
will be glad to answer any questions
on how the HVS systems can be integrated
into your production line. HVS will
custom engineer the system to meet
your needs and supply the necessary
software to monitor the process control
parameters
